Children's Centre changes - consultation feedback
Between November 2011 and January 2012 we gathered your views about how centres will run in the future.
Thank you for your feedback and comments.
The results showed that:
• 69% of you agreed that we should reduce costs by keeping the 17 main buildings to deliver activities and sessions but only have five (one in each area) formally called Children’s Centres. The five main centres will be chosen locally based on what centres will best serve the needs of families living in each area.
• 86% of you agreed that parents and community members from the local area should have more say in deciding what services are required locally for families living in the area. Centres are now looking for parents/carers to join Area
Community Boards. If you would like to join your local area board please email childrenscentres@sunderland.gov.uk or ask a member of the team at your local centre.
• 45% of you said that we should do more work with families who would benefit from extra help. Centres will work more closely with families who need this additional support and Children’s Centre services will continue to be FREE and available for everyone.
To find out more about how Children's Centres will change in the coming weeks and months take a look at our 'Children's Centre Changes' and 'Stepping Stones' pages.
If you have any questions about the consultation feedback, please speak to a member of the team at your local
Children’s Centre or email childrenscentres@sunderland.gov.uk
