Celebrate being a parent this October

Monday 18 October to Sunday 24 October

Families in Sunderland will have the chance to meet a Dalek from Dr Who and take a mini health MOT as part of this year’s Parents’ Week celebrations.

This year’s theme is ‘Knowing Families’ with events aimed at encouraging families to spend quality time together and find out about all kinds of services they may find useful when raising their children in Sunderland.

Come along to one of the events taking place throughout Parents’ Week and see what you discover…

Knowing family support services in Sunderland
Monday 18 October, 1pm to 5pm, Thorney Close Action and Enterprise Centre

and Wednesday 20 October, 1pm to 4pm, Bunny Hill Centre


Parents, carers and those working with families are invited to come along to one of the market stall events. Find out more about family services in the city, from childcare options and parenting programmes, to tracing your family tree and mental health advice. Have a mini health MOT and enter a fantastic family prize draw.

As part of the normal Stay and Play session we will be celebrating Parents Week. Come along and have your face painted and just in our activities. We are also providing health MOT and loads more.

Men Behaving Dadly
Saturday 23 October, 10am to 2pm, City Library and Arts Centre


This jam-packed free event for dads, uncles, granddads and their children will include story-telling sessions, face painting, magicians and Nintendo Wii games. Plus, meet a Dalek from Dr Who and the infamous Buzz Lightyear and Woody.
