Other pages in this section What are they? Where are they?

Sunderland Children’s Centres are springing up in communities all over the city and are great places to find out everything you need to know about babies and young children.

There are lots of ways which a Sunderland Children’s Centre can help your family, including:

Fun things to do - They are places where you can take part in activities, or use facilities that you and your child will enjoy.
Practical help -

You can gain help and support with the practical side of bringing up a family:

  • Affordable childcare available from 8am to 6pm
  • Baby days – Informal drop in sessions for parents with children under the age of two years
  • Advice on healthy eating for all the family
  • Work and training advice
  • Giving up smoking
  • Advice on what to do if your child has problems with eating, sleeping, behaviour or talking
  • Support if you are feeling low or depressed
Companionship and advice -

They are a place that you can meet other parents and learn from each other, including:

  • Time to relax, unwind and chat to other parents
